WOMEN OF SPIRIT
These are the women I love.
Not women I know necessarily — though some I do. Women I have imagined into being because I needed them to exist. Women painted in mixed media on canvas and paper, in ink on paper, in pastel — each in her own colour, her own posture, her own particular light.
They carry splendour. They dream. They recline. They wear blue boots and hold magical birds. They are not shame. They are not defined by what has been done to them or said about them. They are simply, completely, gloriously alive.
Within this collection is a series of three — Courage, Dream, Joy — dedicated to women who have faced cancer and refused to be reduced by it. Painted for every woman who has sat in a waiting room, lost her hair, kept going anyway. One of the three has already found a home with a collector who understood exactly what it was about.
And there is one painting I made for my mother. I Miss When Mama Sings. I will not say more than that. Some things need no explanation.
The black and white ink drawings are quieter — dreamy, playful, intimate. A different register of the same song. They are available as limited edition prints for those who want to live with them daily.
Many works from this collection have already found homes with collectors. Additional works are available for viewing in the studio — write to arrange a visit.
