Working Title: When Birds Still Sing
Genre: Literary magical-realism for adults
Short Synopsis:
In the occupied city of Neapolis, a grieving girl sets out to gather twenty mythical tears, each with a power of its own. What begins as a magical quest becomes a journey through grief, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between past and future. With a city that breathes, a clocktower that remembers, and a twist of time that turns seeker into guide, When Birds Still Sing is a haunting tale of loss, legacy, and the power of stories to keep hope alive.

About the Novel
When Birds Still Sing is a luminous tale of magical realism set in the occupied city of Neapolis. At its heart is an unnamed girl who sets out to collect twenty mythical tears—each holding a unique power. What begins as a quest to heal the grief of losing her mother becomes a journey of self-discovery, sacrifice, and legacy.
In Neapolis, the city itself breathes and remembers. A clocktower keeps secrets, the streets whisper stories, and every tear carries the weight of hope. Alongside a cast of unforgettable characters, the girl discovers that the survival of her people—and of the city itself—rests in her hands.
This is a story of grief and resilience, memory and resistance, loss and the unbreakable threads of community. With a time-bending twist that reveals the protagonist as both the young seeker and her older guide, the novel becomes a layered meditation on how storytelling preserves identity across generations.

Why now?
In a world wrestling with political unrest, climate crises, and collective grief, When Birds Still Sing offers both escape and reflection. It reminds us that even in the darkest of times, stories and shared memories can keep a people alive—and keep hope burning.
