Oh Nana

Picture
Title: Oh Nana
Genre: Children's book
Publisher: Kiwi Stories
Publication Year: 2024

I first wrote this poem/story in Arabic in 2015.
It was born from the depths of my soul as a Palestinia
n who has lived in many places around the world, but never in Palestine. The search for a belonging, the search for a home, having been born outside of Palestine because my parents and my grandparents were displaced. I wanted to write something to that child inside me, to every Palestinian child, to every child that has faced displacement and loss. And to every grandma who has tried to comfort her grandchildren. You are not alone.
Finally, in 2024, my story found the perfect publisher (Kiwi Stories), the same publisher for the Arabic version "Ya Sitti".
Just as we were working on getting it published, the attack on Gaza began. And so my poem/story became more poignant.

Testimonials

Thank you for the book. Very beautiful, very reflective, very sad, very emotional. Amazing illustration. I love to see the family growing. I don’t know if it was intentional for the keys/ key to almost disappear slowly☺️. Personally the old/ original Palestinian house is so special. I was very happy to see it in the first few pages. The book timing is very good and very ironic. 🙏🙏🙏❤️ Abed Hannawi
