One Hundred and One chokers …

Last month was quite busy for me with another exhibition in Dubai, UAE, after last year’s December exhibition in Spain.

Something about preparing for and participating in an exhibition is very motivating and inspiring. The best part is always meeting everyone and realizing that they can actually feel the vibes of the loving process you went through to create something new, of telling a new tale with each new choker. 

Yet, despite all of the new additions to my collection, Shahrazad remains one of my favorite pieces, and a favorite of many of my customers.

I have recreated this piece upon request and commission quite a few times now, each recreation is totally new, unique in its details. No two are exactly the same, the material is always different and my mood is always different – ask those who know me!!

This is great I think - because, although we may all, as people, share many of the same beliefs, thoughts, feelings and values - we each have our own little twist on things, which is what makes us truly unique despite our apparent similarities.

Perhaps what makes this piece so popular is that it was inspired by Shahrazad - this amazing woman; a woman we may aspire to be in some way. To be smart and beautiful, to be a woman with all the femininity this involves and to be strong and independent, to overcome adversity and meet challenges, but to always have perfect hair, perfect nails and the perfect necklace.

So, go ahead, break some rules, and be your own Shahrazad in a society which has so many rules for women and so few rules for men.

After all, we can never have too many shoes or too many chokers!
